The program is free to download, needless to say, make it Android, iPhone, or Windows 10. Spotify is also giving Indian customers an extended flavor of its offering, as many of the worldwide restrictions on the free grade — restricted song skips and no individual song selection — do not appear to use in India for now, even though that could change.
There is one major difference between the Spotify app on Android and iOS right now. You can’t sign up to your subscription-based offering Spotify Premium on Apple or Windows devices, but you’re still free to play whatever songs you please. (Spotify, like Netflix, doesn’t offer premium subscriptions via the App Store to avoid paying Apple a cut of the fee.) As soon as you login, Spotify will ask you to pick music you prefer, in order to better urge other stuff based on its algorithms.
At the time of writing, obtaining a Spotify Premium subscription appears to be working on the Android program, though it occasionally reveals an error stating”Spotify is now not available in your state”. To get rid of the error, tap Access Premium in Spotify, tap on the profile icon at the top and choose Attempt Premium Free.
Spotify has customised its browse section — called”Search” because the program refresh in April last year — to suit Indian tastes, with segments such as Bollywood, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu music upfront alongside genres and collections such as pop, love, party, hip-hop, R&B, K-pop, reggae, work out, chill, focus, sleeping, summer, dinner, jazz, gaming, soul, classical, latin, metal, children, blues, funk, punk, travel, comedy, country, and folk & acoustic among others. Spotify also provides access to podcasts.
Music you like — using the center icon — will appear from’Your Library’ on the Spotify app, wherein you can form stuff by playlists, artists, albums, and podcasts. You can make your own playlists, of course, and Spotify will recommend songs to add to your playlist by the title you choose.
Earlier on Tuesday, we reported that prices for Spotify Premium had been revealed. Along with this Rs. 119 per month program, which puts it almost on par with Apple Music, you might even purchase one day, seven days, and one, three and six weeks of Spotify for Rs. 13, Rs. 39, Rs. 129, Rs. 389, along with Rs. 719, respectively. And if you prefer, it is possible to pay for a complete year of Spotify upfront, for Rs. 1,189.
There is even a half-off Spotify student membership. Sadly however, there doesn’t appear to be a Spotify Family subscription available at this time. Out of all the big names — JioSaavn, Gaana, Apple Music, Google Play Music, and Amazon Music — Apple remains the only one to offer a family subscription.
