Samsung has sent samples of its Own Foldable display to tech giants Apple and Google, according to media reports.
The business would be a probable candidate for providing foldable panels to Apple since it supplies the majority of the OLED components for its iPhone XS and XS Max.
“Samsung is now able to produce roughly 2.4 million foldable screens per year, it is contemplating ramping up to 10 million,” the report stated.
Apple has shown interest in foldable OLED for years in the form of related patent applications. With the initiation of the Galaxy Fold, the company may now be under pressure to provide a competing product.
According to the report, 2019 iPhones are expected to keep stationary panels however, and the typical analyst opinion is that Apple won’t have any foldable iPhones prepared until at least 2020.
