The new Maruti Swift will launch in the Indian market in the forthcoming weeks. Slated to be among the biggest launches this year, the India-spec Swift was viewed for the first time, lately. A quick check with multiple dealers reveals that some of them have unofficially started accepting bookings for the new model. Maruti is yet to announce the details for the new Swift for India.
Traders tell us that clients whose bookings are accepted for the incoming car will find the brand new model mechanically if shares of the elderly car are depleted — which is the case at many places. A handful of dealers have also begun to accept new bookings for the vehicle. Booking numbers vary between locations since there is no official statement. Deliveries for the brand new Swift in India have been promised from the end-February or early in March, according to our resources.
But, Maruti will offer automatic gearbox variants also — such as with the new Dzire. The new version is built on precisely the same platform as Baleno, albeit approximately 10-15 % lighter. The new Swift’s cottage is very likely to continue with all-black motif, such as the outgoing model. The new model is very likely to keep the international-spec car’s minimalistic dashboard using a brand new, upmarket steering wheel and sporty, two-pod instrument cluster. We anticipate fully-loaded versions to also find more equipment — such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.
Crucial contests to the new Swift include the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Ford Figo. The latter is also expected to acquire a mid-cycle update in the coming months.
